Crossword puzzles
When redesigning the editorials section this past summer, I wanted to change things up. Upon speaking to my adviser, we realized that adding crossword puzzles would help boost audience engagement
Teasers
A cornerstone of our newspaper’s identity revolves around our use of teasers. In various places throughout the paper (cover, page 2, section fronts, reviews), we briefly mention other top stories and media content in the newspaper and website. We aim to get more audience engagement through this practice.
Our audience and circulation
Every cycle, we print around 4,000 copies of our newspaper to distribute across campus, to every alumnus, and other scholastic journalism programs who wish to receive our issues. Our primary audience is the St. Mark’s community, so almost every story is localized to our institution.
